It’s a day that is meant to be shared with your nearest and dearest. Today, more couples are choosing to include their dogs in their wedding celebrations. Before adding your pup to the wedding party, here are three important points to consider.

The Venue

Including your dog in your wedding can make choosing a venue for the ceremony a bit more challenging. Therefore, it’s important to give yourself an early start. Parks, beaches, and converted farmhouses are often dog-friendly (check the regulations to be sure). Private homes (even some vacation rentals) are another great option particularly, if you would like your furry companion to stay for the festivities (since it is illegal to have pets in food establishments, in most regions). Depending on where you live, you may even be able to find a dog-friendly church.

Is Your Dog Ready For A Wedding?

A well mannered dog that enjoys people is far more suited to be part of your wedding, than one that still needs plenty of training or is nervous around crowds (quick check: can they sit, come, and pay attention to you despite distractions? If not, try our training tips, to help get your dog wedding ready).

How big of a role do you want your dog to play, in your wedding? Will he/she be in the wedding photos or perhaps act as the ring ring bearer? Don’t forget to have he/she look the part with a custom wedding collar or leash.
