Pumpkin season is here…while the humans may enjoy pumpkin pies and pumpkin lattes, pumpkin is also beneficial for your dog. It is a great source of fiber, vitamins and is low in calories. Just remember to only give your dog pure pumpkin and not pumpkin pie filling!

- 2 cups of flour (we use rice flour)
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp of cinnamon (never use pumpkin pie spice…it contains nutmeg which can be toxic to dogs)
- 1 tbsp sugar (optional)
- 2 tbsps pure pumpkin
- water as needed (we usually start with 1/8 c)
Mix all the ingredients except the water. The dough shouldn’t be sticky but should be able to form a nice ball. If needed, slowly add water to adjust the texture.
Once the dough comes together, place it on a lightly floured counter top. Roll the dough out until it’s approximately 1/8″ or 3-4mm thick. Using a cookie cutter or measuring spoon, cut out cookies an place on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 350F/180C for 10-12 minutes. Turn off the oven and let the cookies cool while still in the oven.
