Although this post is in honor of “woof Wednesday”, jerky is a great treat for both dogs AND cats. However, store bought jerky can be expensive and may have unnecessary additives. Making chicken jerky yourself is easy, costs less than the commercial variety and best of all…it doesn’t require any fancy dehydration equipment.
1) Preheat an oven to 200F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
2) Thinly slice (no thicker than 1/4″) raw chicken and remove any excess fat.
3) Bake in the oven for at least 2 hours (it may take longer). The jerky should feel firm not soft. It’s better to slightly over cook than under cook the jerky.
The jerky will keep in the fridge for about a month (although we think it will be all gobbled up before then!)
